Dia de los Muertos
¡Viva la Vida, Viva la Muerte!
Celebrating Culture and Community in National City
Fall 2024
Each Fall we open the ARTS Center to celebrate our loved ones by adding their names and memories to our community altar. This is a special opportunity to honor and remember our loved ones. Engage in various creative activities to further connect with and honor our traditions.
As a special treat, we explored relationships with loved ones through poetry and written words with San Diego Poet Laureate Paola Capó-García.
Guests were treated to a variety of engaging and enriching creative and cultural experiences, along with numerous activities that captivated their interest and encouraged participation.
Shout-out to the
Ballet Folklorico Azteca De Montgomery (@folklorico_moh) group for their lively performance of Ballet Folklorico that truly added magic to our celebration!
The evening featured art the youngest talents in our ARTS of Campus program from our National School District afterschool program as part of our community altar. Our Community ARTS Sound and Technology project team hosted a workshop featuring stunning wind chimes embellished with intricately laser-etched cempasuchil flowers, known for their vibrant colors and cultural significance.
