Celebrating Community: Launching our Volunteer Program

April is National Volunteer Month and we are incredibly excited to launch our Volunteer webpage! For the past couple of years ARTS has had volunteer and internship opportunities and the program has been steadily growing.

Last August we welcomed our Volunteer & Intern Coordinator Stephanie to ARTS. Prior to ARTS she was at a youth centered climate education non-profit and later with the County of San Diego as a Youth Sector Coordinator. She has a passion for youth empowerment and strives to contribute to spaces that center youth leadership. “ARTS aligned with my personal mission of empowering youth and connected with my passion of programming which led me to the role of the Volunteer & Intern Coordinator.”

Since joining ARTS Stephanie has been working hard to streamline the process of volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and engagement. She has built and strengthened partnerships with different institutions, including Southwestern College, San Diego Mesa College, and Cal State San Marcos, to reach more community members passionate about arts education. Currently the Volunteer Program has 21 volunteers who support our various programs!

At the core of volunteering is community and ARTS is working toward strengthening the Volunteer Program to provide folks opportunities to gain meaningful experiences and develop professional and interpersonal skills while supporting the mission of ARTS. “I’ve enjoyed building out the Volunteer Program at ARTS and am excited to continue seeing its growth and the diverse folks who are sharing their time and talents with us. It’s been especially rewarding connecting with folks and seeing the admiration they have for our mission and how their contribution to it.”

Our volunteer webpage has detailed information on what volunteer and internship opportunities are available at ARTS and the onboarding process for joining us. We’ll also periodically highlight our active volunteers and share more about how they support ARTS and help us achieve our mission of lifting young people to become confident, compassionate, and courageous community builders.
