Aeriel Poorman

Teaching Artist – Visual Arts
As a native San Diegan I grew up in this wonderful area.  I have been working with clay for six years predominantly in the field of pottery and pottery production.  Although my university background is actually in the field of languages, linguistics and teaching; I have been working in ceramics the whole time.  While I do make sculptural work, particularly slip casting, my main field of work is functional pottery.  Making objects on the wheel is one of my favorite past times.  When I am not being outdoors and living an active lifestyle and volunteering in community college ceramics studios I am working on my own body of work.  I am currently studying at San Diego State University, focusing on ceramics and glazing by making glazes and experimenting with new recipes.
